On 02.11.2015 /Monday/, the national initiative of the Bulgarian business “I Am Proud of the Work of My Parents” aimed at the revival of labour as a value, will take place for third consecutive year in 21 companies, in 19 cities in the country. The idea is for the business to show the employees’ children, using specially developed programmes and games, why their parents’ labour is important. This year, the children will learn about 115 professions from more than 15 sectors of the economy. The goals of the programme are to show children the creative side of labour, to demystify money as a value and to clearly show that they are a measure of the contribution of each worker in creating the end product or service. Nowadays, building an adequate value system is not only a result of family and school environment, but it is also a concern of the business, since parents are increasingly engaged with the life of the companies they work for. The initiative “I Am Proud of the Work of My Parents” sheds light on several tendencies: return to the practice of inheriting the profession, comprehension of labour and its value by the employees, expanding the opportunities of early carrier orientation by providing opportunity for the children to experience the professions. Increased involvement has been observed of more and more company employees without being directly engaged with the implementation of the initiative. The sustainability of the national initiative “I Am Proud of the Work of My Parents” leads to its natural expansion and upgrade. This year, it will end with the “Career Fair” open for all parents and adolescents. Since 2014, there has been an exchange of children between the companies. Thus, they have the opportunity to learn about more and different professions. “I Am Proud of the Work of My Parents” is a programme of the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact and the intention is to make it annual and to include the business nationwide. This autumn, 21 companies will be visited by more than 600 children from 19 cities – Asenovgrad, Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Varna, Gotse Delchev, Galabovo, Devnya, Dimitrovgrad, Karlovo, Kardzhali, Pirdop, Pleven, Plovdiv, Sliven, Sofia, Panagyurishte, Pernik, and Slivnitsa. Media partners of the project are BNT, Bulgaria ON AIR, Radio Family, “Parvite 7” Magazine, Investor.bg, Computerworld, b2b media, CSR Bulgaria, HealthyNewsMedia.
