Sopharma's social activity oriented towards elderly people and children of inferior social status is being continuously developed and is extending. Women from the Pensioners' Club in qt. Nadezhda jointly with Hristo Botev - 1917 Community Centre in Sofia and with the assistance of Sopharma visited Dragan Manchov Special School in Velingrad. This visit was organized especially with the aim to deliver their presents - hand-knit clothes, Martenitsi, home-made round loaf and sweeties.

Generation Awake accepted Sopharma as their partner and adherent. “Generation Awake” - the European Commission campaign is for efficient use of natural resources. It is oriented to active people ready to change their daily habits, to make a better place of the World we are living in.

The campaign topic each year is different, which for 2014 is the better management of wastes. This is a key element to achieve the Green Economy objectives.

On 19.03.2014, the European Generic Medicines Association (EGA), whose member is BGPharmA, carried out its tenth annual Legal Affairs Forum and appealed to the EU to remove the obstacles to competition and free trade on pharmaceuticals markets by implementation of reasonable reforms regarding intellectual property rules in the pharmaceutical sector.

Improving the effectiveness of patent protection

As a member of BHPharmA, Sopharma took part in a press conference of the Association on 27.03. on „What are the major threats to access to medicines of patients in Bulgaria ”, in connection with the proposed changes in the Health Insurance Act (HIA). These changes refer to the business of pharmaceutical manufacturers and would lead to its hindrance, even to delisting of some medicines on our market.

According to information of BGPharmAbasedonthe 2014 report of the World Bank, pharmaceutical industry in Bulgaria plays a structurally defining role for the national economy. Generic pharmaceutical industry at European level provides over 150 000 work places and saves costs to the amount of 35 milliard Euro every year.
