The Responsible Business Awards 2013 of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum were presented on the 20th of February at a press conference of the Bulgarian News Agency. The most prestigious competition for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Bulgaria was held for 11th consecutive year, and this year edition achieved a record with 70 CSR projects by 56 companies from all over the country. They competed for prizes in six categories of the business competition.
Sopharma was presented with its campaign „80 Planted Trees” which was started in 2013 in relation to the 80th anniversary of the company. The project offered a long-term vision of development over the following 5 years and was aimed at restoration of oak plantations in Bulgaria. The forestation of desolate and suitable areas with the characteristic and typical for Bulgaria ancient oak, depicted also on the coat of arms of our country, was part of the company investments in the field of ecology and environment. This was also a step towards the formation of ecological thinking not only in the project participants - Sopharma employees and representatives of the local community, but also in the residents of those villages where the project was started. The category in which the 80 Planted Trees project competed was Investor in Environment.
Sopharma has been participating in the competition for CSR prizes since 2006 with different projects aimed at significant social causes, most of which have been nominated in their categories.
The ceremony of the Responsible Business Awards 2013 will be held on the 25th of February 2014.
